What is EMRAM? EMRAM Levels for Digital Hospitals

What is EMRAM?
EMRAM (Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model) is an accreditation system that evaluates the digitalization levels of hospitals according to international standards. Developed by HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), this model assesses how effectively hospitals utilize health information technologies.
EMRAM ranks hospitals on a scale from 0 to 7, helping them optimize their health IT processes. Hospitals that reach Level 6 and Level 7 are accredited by HIMSS and achieve digital hospital status.
EMRAM Levels and Criteria
Level 7 – Fully Digital Hospital
✔ Paperless Hospital: All patient records, medical images, and documents are stored electronically.
✔ Data Warehousing & Analytics: Clinical data is analyzed to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency.
✔ Full Integration: Standardized data sharing between internal and external healthcare facilities.
✔ Physician Documentation & Electronic Orders: 90% of prescriptions and medical documentation are electronic.
📌 Level 7 Hospitals in Turkey: Yozgat City Hospital, Istanbul Bahçelievler State Hospital
